Introduction to the books of Psalms

We are beginning a series on the book of Psalms. It is good to have a short introduction to the book of Psalms so as to get our bearings and understand what this is about and where we are going. I want to begin with a confession. It is a bit embarrassing and I wasn't sure whether I wanted to share this with you. Here is my confession: I really enjoy listening to the music from The Greatest Showman! There you have it! When I am cooking, cleaning, making things or driving along, I love listening to The Greatest Showman. This may or may not surprise you but I felt the need to confess this to you! Why? Because The Greatest Showman is a musical, and the thought of a musical will really help us orientate ourselves in the Psalter. When are you (or your children) ready for the Lord's Supper? In 1 Corinthians 11:27-31 the Apostle Paul says: "27 So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. 29 For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. 30 That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. 31 But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment."
